Thank you for your interest
in the MLIS

The Midwest Lodging Investors Summit is a leading conference for lodging industry owners, developers, operators, lenders, consultants and brand company marketers. Now in its fourth year, MLIS draws between 300 and 400 hotel industry executives to Chicago in July to listen, learn, share and socialize. This year, MLIS will be held July 17-19 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place.

The MLIS agenda combines general sessions, break-out discussions and keynote speakers on a wide variety of topics related to hotel development, ownership and management, both in the Midwest and throughout the U.S. Past general session topics have included overviews of the hotel industry, the low-down on hotel financing and discussions among top owners and operators. The breakout sessions are even more specific and deal in subjects as wide ranging as sustainability, soft branding, social media marketing, franchising, development and more. Other sessions examine the state of hotel industry segments, such as extended stay and vacation ownership.

Past keynote speakers have included the irreverent (Lawrence Geller of Strategic Hotels & Resorts), the thoughtful (former Hyatt CEO Doug Geller) and the informative (a representative from Chicago's Olympics bid).

MLIS also has plenty of networking opportunities, including breakfast, coffee breaks and lavish evening receptions.

Joins us in Chicago to Honor Steve Marcus with the Inaugural Lodging Hospitality Game Changer Award

Join us in Chicago at the fourth annual Midwest Lodging Investors Summit for the presentation of the inaugural Lodging Hospitality Game Changer Award. The first recipient will be Steve Marcus, the chairman and former CEO of Marcus Corp., who helped lead the Milwaukee-based theater company into the lodging world with the acquisition and successful restoration of the classic Pfister. He also helped pioneer the limited-service segment with the launch of the Budgetel brand in 1974, which was later rebranded as Baymont in the late 1990s. The brand was eventually sold to La Quinta and now resides with Wyndham Worldwide.

The Gamechanger award will be presented annually at MLIS to honor someone who has made a significant impact on lodging in the Midwest and on the industry as a whole.

For more on Steve Marcus and the Marcus Corp., read this story on how the company has evolved over the years.
